FOX13 in Tampa Bay is reporting that the man accused of stalking and plotting to kidnap WWE Superstar Sonya Deville three years ago received 15 years in jail and 15 years probation after he struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
Back in 2020, Phillip Thomas drove from South Carolina to Tampa carrying a knife, zip ties, and duct tape with the plan of kidnapping Deville due to his obsession. That obsession turned into anger when he began stalking her, sending threatening text messages to her and her friends and family.
But in August, while Deville was at home with former WWE star Mandy Rose, the home alarm alerted them of an intrusion. A sliding door was opened and Deville then came face to face with her would-be kidnapper. Thankfully, both her and Rose escaped before things turned ugly.
On Tuesday, Thomas pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempted kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and armed burglary.
Deville left WWE for a bit after SummerSlam that year when her match against Rose was turned from a hair match to a loser leaves WWE stipulation. She eventually returned in early 2021.
