It was revealed that Bryan Danielson led a committee that came up with the decision to fire CM Punk from AEW this past September.
The report, by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, noted that Danielson was joined by AEW general counsel Chris Peck and another attorney from outside the company to investigate the All In backstage altercation and recommend action.
The action recommended was dismissal and AEW President Tony Khan took the final decision to fire Punk, leading the way to return to WWE.
Following CM Punk’s return on Monday Night Raw, Danielson made a cryptic tweet, writing, “My dad always told me, ‘The right thing is often the hardest thing to do.’ It won’t always make the most money. It won’t always be the most popular. But it’s still the right thing.” He also added #AEW and a heart emoji.
The money line was a dig at Punk who on Raw said he was there to make money, not friends.
